CRMPA POLITICAL EDUCATION Series – Part 7: TRANSFORMATION PROGRAMMES IN CHURCHES MUST INCLUDE POLITICAL EDUCATION AND MOBILIZATION

Without mincing words, political power is next to God’s power.  The Landmark Beach Resort saga in Lagos, which unfortunately is a negative exercise of power, proves the point here.  God conceptualized power for positive transformation.  Unfortunately, the devil has greatly corrupted power and power holders.  If God intended power to transform, political power and indeed, all other forms of power, positively administered will transform. Political power properly used can eradicate poverty. This will reduce welfare needs in Churches. Political power has the potential to eliminate insecurity, thereby restoring security of life and properties, including that of Church members and Church properties. Political power can create jobs and make investments easy.  This in return would increase the purchasing power of the citizens, inclusive of Church members who would sow seeds, pay tithes and donate money for the gospel work.  These will promote the great commission as earlier stated.  The benefits of political power to the Church are numerous.  It will minimize selfish prayers and focus the Church more on praying for global evangelization.  Stomach infrastructure Pastors will phase out as many who are in the gospel work for the sake of their stomach will naturally pick up conventional jobs and earn good living. Political power, well administered, will sanitize the system.  Land allocations will be done within the confines of the law.  Churches stand to benefit here because Ministry of Lands will judiciously allocate lands to all qualified applicants.  Where political power is held by the godly, moral education will return to our schools; criminality will be punished; meritocracy will be restored and the reward system for performance will be embraced again. The three arms of government will function independently, making checks and balances in governance possible once more.  In Nigeria, political power in the hands of a godly man will unite Nigerians.  The bickering between the regions will vanish. Politically-motivated persecutions of Christians will abate and the gospel will flourish. Please, the Church should not joke with political power.  More and more of our Church programmes should include political education and mobilization.  Those of us called into this political ministry should not be confined to the back seats and considered unserious Christians. More and more platforms should be made available for political sensitization, awareness, education and mobilization our Churches. It is a task that must not be neglected or handled with levity.
